COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION:
Founded in 1989, Lost Valley Educational Center is a non-profit education center and aspiring ecovillage located on 87 acres acres of lushly forested land 18 miles outside of Eugene, Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
Lost Valley’s educational programs center around sustainability, not just in the ecological sense but holistically considered, including the personal and social sides. Permaculture and personal development have been primary focuses throughout its history, and current certificates offered are the EDE and PDC. There is also conference center business, with aligned organizations that come in summer or other times of the year to rent classrooms, dorm rooms, and meals. Educational classes dovetail well with the lived experience in a community of residents that averages around 50 adults and children year-round. The land features gardens and fruit trees, large meadow, forests with trails, pond, and creek.
